Match Report: Valencia CF beat Clermont Foot 63 (4-2)
Valencia CF won 4-2 against Clermont Foot 63 in their latest mid-season friendly, maintaining a high intensity and furthering their preparations for the restart of the LaLiga season.
The players tried to impose their will on the game, and the first goal of the match came early on when the ball was won back high up the pitch. Lino took advantage to score with a great finish in the 22nd minute. After the opener, Gattuso's men continued to dominate and offered very few chances to a Clermont side that were looking to create danger on the counterattack.
In the second half, Valencia CF maintained their shape despite the changes made at halftime. The second goal was not long in coming, and was provided by Castillejo.
Clermont reacted and managed to level with two quick attacks finished off by Kyei and Khaoui, but Valencia CF regained control and went back ahead with Castillejo’s second strike of the game.
In stoppage time, Kluivert rounded things off with a spectacular chip over the goalkeeper to make it 4-2.
Valencia CF will play their next friendly next Friday against Nottingham Forest.
